ShotCode
ShotCode is a new "offline weblinks" mobile technology. Basically ShotCode is a barcode type URL that uses your camera phone as the scanner. Users, with the ShotCode reader installed on their handset, take a picture of a ShotCode and are then instantly taken to a mobile version of your website.
While it sounds very cool, and I can think of many instances where this could be very useful (posters, business cards, flyers, mailers, in-store advertisements, etc..), I see it being a while before we ever see these appear in the mainstream.
The ShotCode Reader is available, for Free, for several leading camera phone manufactures (Nokia Series 60, Sony Ericsson, and Siemens). But there is a monthly fee for those who wish to create a pro account at ShotCode. The pro service is € 54 for 200 scans, after that each additional scan will cost you € 0,27.
All in all it is a very interesting technology and worth checking out! They do offer a Free account, so I will certainly be creating a ShotCode of my own for testing purposes... and who knows, maybe if it does catch on I will place it on my business card one day.

Ive worked with shotcodes for a bit - before when they were called bango spots they had even more interesting applications since you could actually derive the angle and do real time telemetry sensing of the image itself to allow real time intereaction. If you dont need all that extra stuff, you might want to take a look at www.semacode.org - a similar system that is open source and free for educational personal use, and full blown sdks for commerical usage - The author Simon Woodside is full on brain developer and worthy of support.

Rob
