iTunes Movie Rental, Why Apple Missed the Mark

As many of you know, I am a huge Apple fan. I feel strongly that they are the best computer maker out there, that there OS is far superior to others, and that they develop great consumer products. Although I do feel at times Apple's business model (aka greed) causes them to "miss the mark", and that today's announcement of the iTunes Movie Rental service is one of those moments.

QuickLook Plugins

If you have upgraded to Apples new OS Leopard (10.5) then you have probably already used QuickLook. It is a cool utility that allows you to view the contents of a file without even opening it.

New Camera

I have been wanting to get back into photography for a few months now, so have been looking for a new Digital SLR camera. After going back and forth on a couple of different models I decided to go with a Canon EOS Rebel XTi. I had heard a few negative things about the standard lens it ships with, so I opted to only purchase the body only and then pick up some better glass elsewhere. I ended up getting a 28-105mm and a 70-300mm lens for now. So far I am very happy with the camera, the pictures are excellent, and it has all the setting I was looking for. I haven't done much with photography for several years, so am hoping once I get back to shooting again things will come back to me. I am heading out to San Diego next week, and am very excited about bringing the new camera with me. For now you can check out a few sample photos on my Flickr account.

iPod Nano

I just got back from the Apple Store at Lenox Square, where I picked up a new iPod Nano. This brings my iPod collection to three, a 3rd generation iPod, an iPod Shuffle, and now an iPod Nano.

DontClick.it

A coworker directed me to DONTCLICK.IT, an Institute for Interactive Research this past week. The site challenges users to navigate around without the use of a mouse click. The site combines a nice UI, a good use of Flash, and explores alternate means of interactivity! Three plusses in my book! Check it out and enjoy...
